Projects

The Free State of Bavaria is one of the most important federal states in the hinterland traffic of the German seaports. Due to the high overall economic importance of the North-South axis, a well-functioning freight transport connection is essential. In view of the anticipated increases in the volume of goods traffic, rail transport is of particular importance.

In this purpose the city of Regensburg, the Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Burghausen mbH and the GVZ Hof Entwicklungs GmbH & Co. KG banded together and initiated their common project promoted by the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior, for construction and transport. The project management as well as the professional project implementation is carried out by the LKZ Prien GmbH.

The aim of the project is to develop short-term measures with all stakeholders in order to be able to use this route as a practical alternative route even before the expansion and electrification of the East Corridor, thus enabling short-term traffic can be handled via this connection. Within the scope of the project, a public presentation of the project results took place on 19.10.2016 in Regensburg.
