As one of Bavaria's most densely populated countries, Bavaria is faced with the challenge of transporting the renewable raw material wood from the source to the sink economically and ecologically, with increasing freight traffic volumes and decreasing transport capacities. The rail transport seems to be predestined for the discharge of the road in cases of weight-restrictive transport. However, developments so far point to the fact that on the part of the stakeholders, there are various, partly contradictory requirements for the transfer of wood transport from road to rail.
